Sheikh Imran

Srinagar, Apr 14: Traffic Police Department Srinagar has launched a drive against the youth indulging in stunts even as some female stunt bikers have been also identified.
SSP Traffic Srinagar Muzaffar Ahmad while talking to VOK said that the parents will have to play a role as while providing motorcycles or bikes to their young sons, must strictly tell them not to use those for stunts on public roads.
“With stunts, the youngsters are not only endangering their own lives but also the lives of other people on roads. A number of accidents have occurred since past in which some motor bikers have lost their lives or were injured while doing stunts. Some other people too have been the victim of these stunt bikers’ actions.” He said.

“There is nothing wrong using motorcycles for the safe travel and it is needed also. But using the two wheelers for stunts is dangerous and has been proving fatal. For keeping their children safe, it is the responsibility of the parents to tell them not to indulge in such deadly acts.” He said.
What we are observing that bikers are resorting to stunts because of social media influence as they do it for likes, comments and even some earn money through monetization of the pages, he said.
“Serious parenting is required, punishing these youngsters, holding them in detention, or confiscating their vehicles should only be used as a last resort. Parents should initially avoid encouraging their young children to have two-wheelers. Let them wait till they are of legal driving age before allowing them to operate a vehicle on the road.” SSP said.

He said that we have been identifying stunt bikers and after proper counselling they are being released, however, he added that repeated offenders won’t be spared and action as per law shall be initiated against them.
He said that we are already identified some girls as well who are involved in stunts and they too will be brought here and counselled.
