Suhail Khan

Baramulla, Sept 11: Amid lashing rains & murky sky, Ghulam Nabi addressed a massive gathering at Dak Banglow in Baramulla saying that within ten days the announcement for the formation of a new political party will be made public.

This is Azad’s first public gathering in Kashmir after he ended his long term political ties with Indian National Congress. He said thousands of leaders came to the power and their sole motive was to loot Kahsmiri people which they did and that why the people are suffering this time.

He said every time Jammu, Kahsmir & Ladakh have became the areana of politics that has always hurt the interests and aspirations of the people belonging to these provinces.

The people in Kashmir have become the victim of violence & bullets irrespective of their religious backgrounds. The militancy not only costed lives but also affected economy and mental peace. Kashmir has suffered due to a non-visionary leadership who has least cared about their welfare.

He said during his stint as Chief Minister of erstwhile J&K State not a single fake encounter was reported and not a single labour was without work but the current situation is apparently visible before everyone.

“I had ensured that ranging small to large scale development, J&K progress in hollistically and equitably but that development isn’t visible anymore,” he said.

Lashing out the allegations of political parties who had targeted Azad for his involvement in scrapping the Article-370 & 35A, He said that he was the sole vocal force in the Parliament that defended the special status.

“Everyone knows the person who registered 4 hours log protest against the Abrogation of Kashmir’s Special status. I openly voted against the bill in the parliament but some people are creating a false narrative which is outrightly false & filmsy,” he said

Answering to a question about restoration of the special status, Azad said there should be majority seats in the Parliament and Lok sabha who can fight for this but he can’t do it alone. “Atleast 350 seats are needed in the Parliament who can reverse this decision under the ambit of Constitution rest promises made about its restoration through some other ways are untrue & deceitful,” he said.

“Why I will mislead my people when it’s not in my favour but the some political parties are targeting me over which I have no control. Where from shall I get 350 seats?,” he said.

He said the political parties are lieing to the people about its restoration through unconstitutional means and until he is alive he will fight legally for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

“If they now the formula for getting back Article 370, then what are they waiting for? They should not waste time. I can’t do it because nobody can, there is no plausible way,” he said.

“For votebank I can’t mislead people. Whether I win or lose my conscience & commitment with the people will never allow me to go so low and fabricated lies. Never shall it happen,” he said.

Azad said that already many generations have been lost to this political chaos but now it’s enough.

“Support me I will strive & fight for your rights. The welfare of the people of J&K is my sole motive but I cannot resort to misleading my people for gaining the reins power. I can only say that which is possible and achievable,” he said while adding that “Chand Taare Tod Nahi Sakta hoon”.

He said all the leaders in Kashmir are showing day dreams to the people and lack the basic roadmap through which the sufferings of people can be removed and a new dawn of peace & stability is started.
