Srinagar, Aug 11 : For the first time in Kashmir, a multiplex cinema is coming up in Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir with 520 seats, which is set to be thrown open in September this year.

According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the multiplex cinema at Shivpora area of Srinagar with three auditoriums, 520 seats, lobby area and other facilities would mesmerize the people once again in the Valley after the gap of 30 years.

“It was actually my parents Mrs Tirender and Mr Vijay Dhar, who started the initiative with an aim to ensure the facilities for entertainment to the children of Kashmir like others across the world,” Vikas Dhar, owner of multiplex cinema told KNO.

“The decision to come up with multiplex cinema has been appreciated by the erstwhile Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Satya Pal Malik as well as the incumbent dispensation including Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha. The government has encouraged us for such a unique initiative,” he said, adding that hopefully, the multiplex cinema will be thrown open in September, 2022.

“There are two motives behind this initiative. One is to provide facilities for entertainment to the children and other is to strengthen the bond between Kashmir and the Indian film industry. Kashmir’s relationship with Indian film industry was too good in the past, so it will be a contribution towards reviving the previous relation,” Dhar said—(KNO)
