Indian army is engaged in relentless anti-terror operations in the Kashmir Valley, at the same time they are engaging the youth of the valley in sports and other activities which can make their future bright.

The Indian army is conducting a Bindass Premier League in the memory of constable Mudasir Ahmed Shiekh who laid down his life while fighting furiously for his motherland in an encounter at Baramulla last month which also saw the neutralization of three Pakistani terrorists of the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) outfit at Kerri. Indian Army also provided cricket kits and necessary assistance to the participating teams to boost their morale.

The aim behind Bindass Premier League is to engage the youth of Kashmir Valley in various sports activities and to instil the heroism of Martyr Constable Mudasir Ahmed Shiekh. Bindass Premier League witnessing teams from all parts of the valley and tournament will provide a platform for the youngsters to take up sports as their career. And also to keep youth away from drugs and other vices.

Major General S S Salaria, GOC Kilo Force inaugurated the tournament and said “We started the Bindass Premier League in the memory of Martyred Constable Mudasir Ahmed Shiekh who laid down his life for the country and the young population should emulate the character and valour shown by Constable Mudasir Ahmed Shiekh.

The youth of the valley are happy and excited to be a part of the Bindass Premier League. A lot of the players hope that BPL would be a starting point for their journey in the world of cricket. Wahid Sofi, a player said: “This is a great tournament and I would say that more and more such activities and tournaments should be held in the valley. The youth who are involved in the drugs can be easily kept away from such vices.”

The Bindass Premier League will be played in ten districts of the Kashmir Valley. The final of the BPL would be held on the first week of August.
