19 encounters, 33 militants killed in June

Srinagar, Jul 01 : Thirty-three militants were killed in 19 encounters in June in Kashmir, said official data.

As per data available with news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), of the 19 encounters, Kulgam saw five encounters, Shopian and Pulwama three each, Anantnag, Kupwara, Baramulla and Srinagar saw two encounters each.

Timeline of encounters

The encounters began with the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Nisar Khanday in Rishipora Kapran area of Anantnag on June 3.

On 6 June, a non-local LeT militant was killed in an encounter in Sopore Zaloora area of Baramulla district, it said.

On June 7, two LeT militants namely Tufail, a Pakistani citizen and Ishtiyak Lone from Tral Pulwama were killed in an encounter in Kandi Kupwara.

On June 7, a Hizb militant named Nadeem Ahmad Rather alias Dr Raja Nadeem, son of Abdul Rehman Rather resident of Ashmuji Kulgam who was missing since  March 27, 2020 was killed in an encounter in Badimarg Shopian.”

On June 11, Hizb militant identified as Rasik Ahmad Ganaie, a resident of Shouch village, near Mohanpora of the Kulgam district was killed  in an encounter in Kandipora Kulgam.

“On June 12, three local LeT militants identified as Junaid Shergojri, Fazil nazir Bhat and Irfan Ahmad Malik were killed in an encounter in Drabgam Pulwama.

On June 12, LeT militant Aadil Parry from Ganderbal was killed in an encounter in Palpora Srinagar.

On June 14, two LeT militants identified as Abdullah Goujri, a resident of Faisalabad, Pakistan and Adil Hussain Mir alias Sufian alias Musab, resident of Anantnag were killed in an encounter in Bemina area of Srinagar.

On June 15, two LeT militants identified as Jan Mohd Lone resident of Braripora Shopian and Tufail Nazir Ganie resident of Ramnagri Shopian were killed in an encounter in Kanjiullar Shopian.

On June 16, two Local Hizb militants were killed in an encounter in Mishipora area of Kulgam.

On June 16, two Hizb militants Junaid Ahmad Bhat and Basit Ashraf Wani were killed in an encounter in Hangulgund area of Kulgam.

On June 19, two local militants including one each from Jaish and LeT identified as Zakir Padder of Kulgam and Harris Sharief of Kulgam were killed in D.H Pora Kulgam.

On June 20, four militants including three non-locals and one local arrested militant Showkat Ahmad from Sedow Shopian were killed in an encounter in Lolab area of Kupwara.”

On June 20, a militant affiliated with LeT was killed in an encounter in Chatpora Pulwama.

On June 21, two LeT militants identified as Zahid Ahmad Chopan resident of Tengwani Shopian and Mohammad Younis Gul resident of Washbugh Pulwama were killed in an encounter in Tulibal area of Sopore.

On June 21, two JeM militants identified as Abid Ahmad Sheikh from Barpora Pulwama and Majid Nazir from Ladoo Pampore were killed in an encounter in Tujan Pulwama.

On June 25, militants managed to give slip to forces after a brief exchange of fire in Shirmal area of Shopian.

On June 27, two LeT militants identified as Zubair Ahmad Mir resident of Qaimoh Kulgam and Idrees Ahmad Dar resident of Kulpora Kulgam were killed in Trubji Kulgam.

On June 29, two LeT militants identified as Yasir wani of Wangund Qazigund and Rayees Ahmad of Chotipora Shopian were killed in Nowpora Mirbazar area of Kulgam—(KNO)
