Gurez, Jun 28 : Apart from home stays, the government has now set up tent colonies after remote Gurez valley saw massive turnout of visitors.
A top official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that they have now set up tent colonies in Gurez to accommodate more tourists as the restaurants and homestay were already booked by tourists.
“Small dhabas, guest houses, restaurants and homestay owners are making good money due to the flow of tourists,” he said, adding that the tent colonies have been set up for tourists who want to stay in tents for night. “It will also provide employment to our youth,” he said.
Besides, the official said that eco-tourism is a priority there under which the administration will promote adventure tourism, trekking, water rafting, bird watching, fishing, night camps, and forest camps.
He further said that the solid waste is being managed there efficiently amid a huge rush of tourists.
Border areas like Keran, Machil, Bangus, Tangdhar, Gurez, and Uri along the LoC in north Kashmir, which were once war zones, are new tourist destinations—(KNO)
