Srinagar: The Department of Students Welfare (DSW) in collaboration with the Health Centre of the Central University of Kashmir (CUK) and District Health Services, Ganderbal, organised a blood donation camp at varsity’s Green Campus here on Tuesday.
Vice Chancellor, Prof. Farooq Ahmad Shah, inaugurated the camp in the presence of Registrar, Prof. M Afzal Zargar, Dean DSW, Dr. Mehraj ud Din Shah, District Hospital Ganderbal, Directorate of Health Services, Medical Superintendent, Dr. Yasmeena, senior administrative staff and functionaries of the university.
Students and scholars of various departments, faculty members and administrative staff of the university donated their blood. As many as 81 pints of blood was collected.
Both the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Farooq Ahmad Shah and Registrar, Prof. M Afzal Zargar hailed the blood donors, calling it a huge service to humanity.
Dr. Ajaz, Dr. Fiza, and paramedics from Ganderbal hospital and CUK medical officers, Dr. Sheeba, Dr. Abid and paramedical staff including Mr. Javed Ali and Mr. Javed Ahmed Rather were also present on the occasion. Varsity’s DSW and NSS wing also organized a blood donation awareness procession inside the university during which the students while holding placards, signifying the importance of blood donation, raised slogans in favour of the same.
Meanwhile, the DSW in collaboration with the Department of Politics and Governance organised a blood donation awareness programme at Wakura here in which Panchs and Sarpanchs from different areas participated.
