Anantnag:Farmers are worried over the long dry spell of weather as the paddy fields developed cracks in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

The water resources have been dried up in the several areas in Anantnag district. As a result, the residents of many villages are facing an acute shortage of water for irrigation.

Locals of Uranhall while talking with Kashmir Glacier said that “This year,we are facing an acute shortage of water for irrigation purpose. Most of the water resources have dried up. The administration should find an alternative water source to deal with the drought-like situation effectively.”

He said that we are in worrying that we are facing acute water shortage for irrigation purpose this year,

Vrious villages in Anantnag district had also facing water shortage for irrigation purpose including Pazalpora, Jablipora, subhanpora, kulgad, tulkhan, zradipora, wanihama, Brinty Dialgam area and also adjacent villages in South kashmir area of Anantnag district.

Reports said that in some villages, people have
Planted paddy in field but unfortunately due to water shortage and dry weather the paddy fields developed cracks.

Another Farmer while talking with Kashmir Glacier said that,”The paddy sapling is drying up. We are heading towards drought and starvation,”

They further said that there were entirely dependant on agriculture and paddy was the main source of their livelihood and income.The situation is leading towards drought and we might face starvation.(Kashmir Glacier)
