What are the reasons for this scorching heat? At first glance, it seems that there is a lot of felling of trees. If a passer-by gets the shade of a tree at this time, then how much relief it is! He must have thanked the tree wholeheartedly. But after leaving from there, he forgets that the trees are the shelter of all, whether it is land, aquatic or aquatic. This is the only abode of demons.
Not only this, the tree is that tree, which holds the soil and water. Although there are no rivers now, otherwise the roots of trees also do the work of protecting the cool-banks of the river from erosion. I remember a poem I read in my childhood – If this Kadamba tree was a mother, Jamuna Tire, I too would sit on it and become Kanhaiya slowly…. Not Kadamba, but mango, tamarind and banyan trees come down in the imagination. Once upon a time there used to be a river on the banks of the flowing river ‘Pasa’. Now only memories are left. In the scorching summer afternoon, the villagers used to loose their bullock carts and take refreshments and rest in the shade. The women and girls of the town used to enjoy Sawan by tying swings in the Sawan. Now all these things are just a fantasy.
When I saw it last time, I was surprised. The river has dried up and the whereabouts of those three trees are not known. The banks have spread torn apart and the roots of the small trees growing in the shadow of those big trees have come out leaving the soil like branches. The era of bullock carts is over. Youth riding motorcycles can move from one side to the other with ease. There is a town to say, but all the signs are of the city. The youth of the village has changed. Not a single moment remains apart from the mobile.
What a change! In ten or twenty years, as if the whole century had changed. Didn’t feel like stopping even for a moment. Otherwise, at the sight of three neem trees in front of my ancestral house, there used to be a flood of memories. Perhaps they were cut off in my long absence. People had told that in view of the widening of the road, the government department cut them down. Those neem trees used to provide shelter to many in the cold, heat and rain.
This is not just the story of those three trees. There used to be a forest in the middle. Today, seeing the condition of that forest, the mind gets disturbed. The last four-five decades ago was full. Sometimes the roar of a lion was heard there. Wild animals were plentiful. Now only monkeys are fighting for their survival. They are seen sitting in a queue on the side of the road. There is no vegetation left in that forest in the name of food. So they come to the road and depend on the blessings and mercy of the passengers passing by.
Sometimes very strange things happen. As usual, he went to the market early in the morning. An elderly man of sixty-seventy years was walking from the front on a bicycle. A plank was visible hanging on the handle facing the front of the bicycle. It was written – Doctor of plants! Surprised to see Many types of doctors come to hear, but seeing the doctor of plants for the first time, was hearing for the first time.
Some tools were kept in a bag on the handle and in another bag on the back carrier was kept a variety of flower plants. I kept looking at him in a stupor. Was watching probably for the first and last time. I understood that they must have been taking care of the sick plants and diagnosing the diseases in them. They must be provided with suitable fertilizers, water, medicine etc.
Earlier, small gardens were planted in the courtyard of the houses and there were one or two fruit trees, which provided coolness to the eyes of the visitor. But now the houses have shrunk. The structure of the house is in every inch of the entire land. If there was no land left below, then the roof started being used nowadays. Vegetables and vegetables were grown in big bags made of polyethylene. There is no land left where natural horticulture can be done and now these rituals have reached the villages. But yes, at some places Bella, Gulab, Neem, Mango and Jamun trees are seen. But for how long? But the definition of village is incomplete without river, fields and trees. At present, the deserted and barren forests are in dire need of tree doctors.
