Seven girls and eleven boys secured 16 medals including 4 gold, 06 silver and 06 bronze.

 

Kupwara [Wednesday, 16 March 2022]
Kupwara Terriers Commanding Officer, Col Swaraj Bhattacharya, today felicitated the 16 winning players of Kupwara Karate team who participated in the 3 J&K UT Karate

 

Championship 2022 held in Jammu, between 5-6 March 22 under the aegis of Amateur Karate Do Association of Jammu and Kashmir. The event saw 400 players from 14 districts participating in the two-day championship.

 

The team from Kupwara sponsored by Indian Army’s Kupwara Terriers, bagged 16 medals including 4 gold, 6 silver and 6 bronze in individual categories.

 

*Gold Medal*

 

Amir Rasool Lone- Senior category, Sehreen Jaan – Sub junior category, Aaqib Nabi- Sub junior category and Furkaan Tahir-junior category

 

*Silver Medal*

 

Sheikh Habsa -sub junior category, Sehreen Fayaz- sub junior category, Aafaq Ahmad Sofi -sub junior category, Retaj Shafi -sub junior category and Areen Tariq- sub junior category

 

*Bronze Medal*

 

Hyder Rashid -sub junior category, Khushboo Gulzar -sub junior category, Aish Ashraf -sub junior

 

category, Momin Manzoor -sub junior category Sheikh Zanib -Sub junior category. Saleeqa Tariq -sub junior category and Mehvish Samander- Sub junior category.

 

Commanding Officer, Kupwara Terniers congratulated the coach Aijaz Ahmad Bhat (General) Secretary) Karate Association of District Kupwara and the young players on their stellar performance and assured them continued support in the future for their training and participation in more competitions. He particularly applauded the young girls for not only competing in a relatively tough sport but also performing admirably. He reiterated the importance of sports in creating a positive environment to bring development, peace and harmony to the region
