BARAMULLA: Setting a great example of good governance, Municipal Corporation President Sopore Masrat Rasool restored defunct lights as Bus Stand Sopore by paying money from her own pocket.
The travelers and drivers had been demanding from last past several months that defunct lights should be restored at Bus Stand as it was giving tough time.
Taking note of the issue, MC President Sopore stepped forward and paid money from her own pocket while making sure people do not suffer.
Sources said that Masrat took the initiative by rewarding her field staff from her pocket to encourage them to repair the defunct high masked lights at sensitive spots as well at other places.
The initiative has been appreciated by the locals, who have asked other municipal officials to take lessons from Masrat Rasool.
“I do not have words to express, how delighted we are after the initiative was taken by the Municipal Corporation President Sopore Masrat Rasool”, said Mehraj Ahmad. He added, “She has set an example for others as well and I guess other officials should come forward and do the same for the people of Sopore”.
