Srinagar, Dec 21: Umar Nisar, also known as ‘Radio boy of India’, born and brought up in a small village of South Kashmir Tral, is among the youngest RJ’s of India who’s currently working at Radio Raabta 90.8 FM , Attended UNICEF Conference to understand the role of Radio to strengthen It’s initiatives including #JalJeevanMission – ‘Har Ghar Jal’
“It was a proud moment for me, for my radio station ‘Radio Raabta’ which i represented and for whole J&K as well. The confrence was so insightful that it can lead us to make a positive impact on our society” Rj Umar Nisar said.
While delivering keynote address in a national media interaction organized by UNICEF in New Delhi, Bharat Lal, Additional Secretary & Mission Director, National Jal Jeevan Mission said, “The media has a very important role in generating awareness and in engaging communities to own, operate and manage their in-village water supply system for ensuring regular and long-term clean tap water supply in rural homes.”
Over 11 Radio representatives participated in ‘Interaction with media on Jal Jeevan Mission’ programme focussed on the vision, objectives, priorities and achievements of the mission in providing clean tap water supply to all rural homes. Shri Nicolas Osbert, Chief, WASH, UNICEF Indiaand Ms. Zafrin Chowdhury, Chief, Communication, Advocacy and Partnership, UNICEF India were also present in the programme.
“It reminds me of my childhood days, we used to learn abbreviations including ‘ What UNICEF stands for?’ now making it to UNICEF itself is like a dream come true” Rj Umar Nisar said with a smile.
