Kupwara, Dec 20: 75 years post-independence, residents of a remote village in Kupwara starts receiving water through water supply project constructed by Indian Army.

• Kupwara Terriers inaugurates newly constructed water supply project at Singrunpati Warsun, Kupwara on 20 Dec 2021.

Col Swaraj Bhattacharya, CO Kupwara Terriers inaugurated 1500m long Water supply project on 20 Dec 21 at Singrunpati Warsun, Kupwara. The project will benefit around 60 underprivileged families residing in the remote village of Singrunpati.

This remote village has been lacking basic amenities like water and electricity till today, where Indian Army emerged as enablers. Lt Col DVS Pathania,Warsun company commander, Kupwara Terriers undertook this novel infra development project with an aim to ensure long-term sustainability of water supply and ameliorate the quality of life of the deserving residents of this remote village under the ambit of Sadhbhavana. In addition to the inauguration ceremony, Kupwara Terriers suitably utilized the event to organise a medical camp in order to attend to the medical needs of the elderly, needy women and children in the ongoing harsh winter.

The medical camp was led by Capt Jayakrishnan, Medical Officer, Kupwara Terriers and his team and witnessed a huge response from villagers, with more than 300 residents, including men, women and children gathered seeking medical care. Capt Jayakrishnan also took this opportunity to sensitize the gathering on the new Omicron strain of Covid-19 and protective measures to be taken to prevent its spread and symptoms to identify an infection. Inauguration ceremony was concluded with Tea & Refreshments wherein Advocate Masrat, DDC Kralpora and Mr Gh Hassan, Sarpanch extended their heartfelt gratitude towards Kupwara Terriers.

Initiatives likes these are reassuring not only because it epitomizes commitment and dedication of the IA towards the people of Jammu & Kashmir but also because in these initiatives exists a potential of socially uplifting a section of the society which not only suffers socio-economically but also lives under a constant threat of geopolitical instability.
