INDIAN ARMY ORGANIZES 5TH DISTRICT KUPWARA KARATE DO CHAMPIONSHIP IN COLLABORATION WITH DIST KUPWARA KARATE ASSOCIATION

Kupwara Terriers kick-started two-day Karate Do Championship at Govt Boys Hr Sec School, Kupwara on 08-09 Dec 21.

Open District Championship was widely promoted through social media, sports academies, banners and posters. Kupwara Terriers collaborated with Kupwara Karate Association to ensure fair and professional conduct with 4 judges, 2 technical staff, 2 game observers and a medical team kept ready to cater for any medical emergency.

 

The championship saw participation of 148 youth including Boys and Girls in four categories to include Sub Junior, Junior, under 17 and Senior category with an aim to test their skills and prepare them for upcoming challenging championships at state, national and international level.

 

The event was inaugurated by Col Swaraj Bhattacharya, Commanding Officer,
Kupwara Terriers on 08 Dec 21 where he acknowledge & appreciated the efforts of Mr Aijaz Ahmad, General Secretary, Kupwara Karate Association for introducing the idea of conducting this championship and enabling the youth of Kupwara to showcase their talent and utilize the platform as a stepping stone for national and international events.

 

The championship was concluded with an award ceremony on 09 Dec 21 attended by Col Swaraj Bhattacharya, Commanding Officer, Kupwara Terriers and other sports and local dignitaries to include Mr Sheikh Parvaiz President Dist Kupwara Karate Association, Mr Mehraj-ud-Din Shah, Principal Govt Hr Sec School Kupwara, Mr Tariq Ali, Patron of J & K Rehbar Taleem Teachers Forum and Mr Jahangeer Ahmad, member of Dist Kupwara Karate Association.

 

The participants extended their gratitude towards the organizers, especially Indian Army for their continued support in promoting the spirit of sports in Kupwara.
