ARMY ORGANISES DEBATE COMPETITION FOR SCHOOL CHILDREN AT ALACHIZAB, KUPWARA

Kupwara, Dec 03: Debate helps the students in gaining broad, multi-faceted knowledge cutting across various disciplines outside their subjects. It helps forming critical thinking skills, increased retention of information and speech delivery.

 

Carrying forward with the student and youth outreach initiative, a Debate Competition was organised by KUPWARA TERRIERS at Dream world HSS Alachizab, Kupwara on 03 Dec 2021.

 

Total of fourteen students including girls from five different schools of Kupwara to incl HAGS Trehgam, Dream world Edn Inst, Govt Boys High School, Awoora, Govt Boys High School Gulgam and Harvard Presentation School, Bhumhama participated and exhibited their talent.

 

The event was attended by an august audience of approx. 100-120 with guests namely Inspe Waseem Ahmad, SHO Kupwara, ASI Nazir Ahmad, Mr Tanveer Ahmad (Principal Dream world HSS Alachizab), Mr Zahid Ahmad Wani (Secretary Harvard Presentation School), Mr Ab Rashid Lone (Headmaster BHS Awoora), Mr Mohd Abdulla (Headmaster, BHS Gulgam), Mr Zakir Hussain Malik (Young Author) and Mr Aadil Hussain Pir (International Athlete). The competition was judged by Mr Fayaz Hameed (President, Journalists Writers Asso Kupwara), Mr Gh Nabi Darzi (Headmaster Govt BHS Gushi) and Mr Javid Ahmad (PGT Govt BHS Gushi) who were highly impressed with the public speaking skills and power of expression of the participants.

 

The event reflected confidence and enthusiasm of the students and also inspired other students and youth in the area thus promoting a positive outlook towards this soft skill among younger generation.

 

The event was concluded by vote of thanks by Col Swaraj Bhattacharya, CO 160 Inf Bn (TA) (H&H) who congratulated the participants for a splendid performance and felicitated the merit holders of the debate competition and the august Judges.
