Pulwama: 55 RR Bonera CAB in Collaboration with District Disaster Management and Eagle’s and Angels Trust Organised Civil Defence Training program at South Kashmiri’s Pulwama district.
The program named civil defense program was headed by NM Bhat and this program was greenlit by District Disaster Management Authority with an objective to train and induct 1800 people as CDVs under DMA act 2005 so that services of these people can be utilized (after they are duly trained) at the times of emergency or a disaster.
The program as on 18th September 2021 has 400 students getting trained , the training includes theory and practical training on handling of different of disasters be it a fire or accident, flood or any other calamity.
The program focuses on fighting different types of fires, handling and leading evacuations and rescue plans, fire safety principles, theory of fire, Fire prevention, fire protection systems, firefighting methods, fire drills, personal safety equipments, muster plans, risk assessment, handling of casualty, evacuating casualty, installing and operation of water based fixed fire fighting systems.
The program also focusses on handling of disasters like Floods, fires, storms, tsunamis, waste disposal,earthquakes, chemical disasters, road disasters, cloudbursts, drought and famines. It focuses on steps to be taken in order to minimize the extent of damage. The program stresses the importance of risk assessment and having an emergency plan at home. Program brings light on the importance of community shelters, community disaster management committees, importance of emergency plans.
The program also explains handling of Principles of first Aid, studying basic human physiology, Human body and functions, accident handling and principles, casualty positioning and principles, casualty evacuation, CPR principles, shock management and principles, handling fractures, handling bleedings, handling of burns, scald and strokes, handling hypothermia and other related issues. The program also includes workings of basic Lifesaving appliances like life boat, life raft, life buoy, distress signaling devices.
The program aims to enlist 1800 people in DDMA Pulwama from all parts of the district with an objective to enhance the lifesaving skills of the people so that precious lives can be saved at the times of emergency by making expert help available in every locality by cutting the time lapse between accident and arrival of first respondents.
This program will also enhance the ability of Govt. to raise awareness about different types of programs or schemes by involving the trained youth. This program will also increase the speed of data collection be it in terms of literacy, population statistics or other data that’s to be collected. It will also limit the
involvement of the teachers (Govt. teachers) in data gathering process be it for census or other purposes. The trained youth can be used to raise awareness about different initiatives being taken by the administration related to jobs in private or Govt. sector or other skill development related programs.
The program at the core aims to enhance the standards of life by polishing the skills of the youth so that precious lives can be saved and a smile be brought on every face.
