Srinagar CNS, July 17: Urs of Hazrat Mir Syed Ali Hamdani (RA), popularly known as Shah-e-Hamdan and Amir-e-Kabir, was observed with religious fervour on Saturday.
Largest congregation took place at Khanqah-e-Moula in Downtown Srinagar. The devotees during the Urs prayed for peace and prosperity and sought blessings from the Almighty.
It may be recalled here that annual Urs of Shah-e-Hamdan is being observed on 6th Zil-Hijjah of Islamic calendar.
Amid thin attendance of people due to deadly Covid virus, hyndreds of devotees including men, women, children and the elderly thronged the shrine throughout the day.
The largest gathering at shrine was witnessed during Zuhr prayers when around majority of people gathered to offer congregational prayers.
On the occasion, scholars shed light on the life of Hazrat Mir Syed Ali Hamdani (RA). They said that the teachings of Shah-e-Hamdan (RA) shall always remain alive.
They added Amir-e-Kabir (RA) was instrumental in spreading Islam in Kashmir and had a major hand in shaping the culture of the Kashmir as Hamdani (RA) also introduced famed handicraft skills for which Kashmir is known all over the world.
Meanwhile, the Urs of Shah Hamdhan (RA) was also observed with religious fervour at Jinab Sahab Soura, Aasar Sharif Kalashpora, Kabamarg and Khiram Sirhama in Anantnag, Dooru Seer Hamdan, Aham Sharif Bandipora, Budgam, Kupwara, Pulwama and Bandipora.
It is pertinent to mention that amid weekend lockdown the presence of the devotees was very low almost at all places. (CNS)
