Srinagar: Prominent Gujjar leader and social activist Farooq Chechi from Rajwar-Handwara in district Kupwara on Friday along with his associates and supporters joined Apni Party at its office in Lal Chowk Srinagar.
Mr. Chechi hails from Satkoji-Rajwar Handwara and has been excessively active in regards to raising the socio-economic issues of his area at all forums available to him. He has also unsuccessfully contested recently held District Development Council elections from Rajwar territorial constituency.
Welcoming the new entrant into the Party-fold, Bukhari expressed hope that his joining will strengthen the Party cadres at grassroots level in Kupwara district.
“The Gujjar community is an essential and inseparable part of Jammu and Kashmir’s rich cultural diversity. Apni Party is committed for the integrated development of J&K by providing equal opportunities to all communities and ethnicities without any disparity or discrimination,” Bukhari remarked on this occasion.
Addressing the occasion, Mr. Chechi said that he was motivated by the developmental agenda of Apni Party and appreciated the pragmatic political solution that can end the sufferings of the people in Jammu and Kashmir. He thanked the Party leadership for providing a viable political platform for the political activists who want to serve the people and alleviate their sufferings on the ground.
Besides Apni Party President, the occasion was attended by senior vice President Ghulam Hassan Mir, State Secretary Muntazir Mohi-u-Din, Provincial Vice President Jammu Syed Asghar Ali, Party Senior Leader and District Vice President Kupwara Abdul Rashid Bhat.
