A little Tribal girl from famous Tourist destination Pahalgam in Southern Kashmir who once dreamed of becoming of doctor has now become a inspiration for people.
She is Just 11- years old and is lone bread earner for her family. Rubeena popularly Known as ‘Rabbit Girl’ belongs from nomad Bakerwal Community is hailing from Pahalgam in South Kashmir’s Anantnag. She is earning money by taking snaps of her rabbits with Tourists for the livelihood of the family.
She living with her parents and her six younger siblings includes two brothers and four sisters and whole family depending upon her income for Survive.
Rubeena’s aim was to become a doctor but she left her studies when she was studying in 3rd standard in Local government school due to poverty. Her parents brought two rabbits for her as she likes them but when she got money for snaps with rabbit she was much interest and made it source of income.
Rubeena lay with rabbits as her father Abdul Majeed Awan fell suddenly ill. Once Tourists saw her and take snap with rabbits and gave little money. As this continued she developed interest in this and made it source of incomes which also forced her to left studies and her dream becoming doctors was shattered.
Earlier her Father used to earned for family but after his illness she was forced to left studies and become bread Earner for family.
She is also Known for her humanly gesture when she returned the lost golden ring worth 2 lakhs of Tourist in Baisaran meadow Pahalgam. A Tourist from Rajasthan had lost golden ring at Baisaran meadow and could not find. The Tourist as well as locals searched around but failed to locate the ring. Left hopeless and disappointed the Tourists decided to left for her native places.
On Next Day after Searches this little girl had found a golden ring and she returned golden ring to the Tourist for which she was rewarded 500 Rs from them.
Meanwhile, Pahalgam development Authority(PDA) rewards her 5000 Rs for her honesty and she get appreciation and praises on social media.
Rubeena while exclusively talking with Kashmir Glacier said that, “When she found a ring he went to home and talked with parents regarding this and later she return the ring to his owner and she felt happy by doing honest work.”
Abdul Majeed Awan while exclusively talking with Kashmir Glacier,” feel proud of my daughter who did a tremendous job by returning a previous golden ring to Tourist. I wish to educate her and complete her dream to become doctor but due to poverty it is not possible.”
“After my illness she looks after family instead it is my duty to run family and educate my children”, he further said
Chief Executive Officer Palgham development Authority while talking with Kashmir Glacier said that, “Kashmir is not only known for Beauty but also for its honesty as little poor girl Rubeena had done a great job by return previous ring to the Tourist.”
Rubeena while exclusively talking with Kashmir Glacier said that, “From last few years my father is ill and is not go outside for work as he our sole bread earner. Now I have take responsible to run family. On daily basis I Leave home in morning with her rabbits in her lab and goes different spots in search of Tourist to take snaps with them and charged her Rs 10 to Rs 20 per and earn Rs 200 in a day.”
She further said that, “It is our only source incomes and we have to Manage everything including daily items and medicine of father in this time of expensiveness. This little earning is not sufficient meet the daily needs of family. The rabbit is the source of our livelihood.”
Rubeena further said that She wants to earn live hood by honesty and will continue to do so. I will earn for by family till i can although it is tough but not impossible.
