SRINAGAR: Apni Party District President Srinagar Noor Mohammad Sheikh on Tuesday expressed his deep anguish over the dilapidated condition of the roads across Srinagar due to administrative apathy.
In a statement issued here, Sheikh said that since the decision of transfer of City Roads of R&B to SMC under 74th Constitutional Amendment Act was taken a month back, the repairs and macadamization of roads have witnessed a staggering halt.
“The people are helplessly enduring immense problems caused by the deplorable condition of roads and the incessant spells of rains have resulted in water accumulation in the potholes. The repair works need to be initiated urgently in order to avoid further inconvenience faced by the daily commuters,” he said.
Sheikh emphasized that macadamization of roads under ULB’s and DDC’s is being carried out at a fast pace while the inner road connectivity in the main city Srinagar remains paralyzed due to impervious attitude adopted by the concerned authorities.
He urged that the administration needs to reciprocate with the genuine demands of the people and must initiate repair work of the roads instantly. “A timely action is requisite so that the public sufferings are alleviated on a prompt basis,” he said.
