Police foils suicide bid from an lady in Srinagar

Srinagar: Alert police personnel foiled a suicide bid here in Kashmir capital Srinagar on Monday afternoon.
Sources said that a lady (name withheld) from Budshah Nagar Natipora emerged on Budshah Bridge Srinagar and tried to jump into the river Jehlum. However, the alert policemen on the spot stopped her and after hard efforts bundled her into a police vehicle.
A video of this incident is viral.
A police official said that the lady has been pacified and is being counselled while reasons behind taking this extreme step are being investigated.
Earlier, today, unknown person jumped into the river Jehlum on Cement Bridge Qaamarwari Srinagar. His body has not been fished out so far. A couple of days ago, a man from Indira Nagar Sonawar tried to end his life by jumping int the river Jehlum near Abdullah Bridge. However, he was rescued by locals and the River Police. (KNT)
