STATE LEVEL WOMEN CRICKET CHAMPIONSHIP BY ARMY CULMINATED AT GANDARBAL

GANDERBAL. The State Level Women Cricket Championship being organized at Madri Meharban Cricket Stadium Gandarbal was culminated today after a week long competitive action with a grand ceremony in the presence of various prominent persons of the civil society. In continuation of Indian Army’s efforts to encourage sports in Kashmir Valley, Ganderbal based 5 Rashtriya Rifles Battalion (JAT) under the Aegis of 3Sector RR.

A total of eight teams from all parts of Kashmir Valley participated in the tournament which was being played on a knock out basis.

The Chief Guest, in his address to the teams, appreciated the young players for delivering such a fantastic performances for not only to showcase their talents but also to imbibe some of the most important life lessons through the medium of sports.

 

He commanded the efforts of the organizing committee for conducting the event and was pleased to see the large numbers of enthusiastic audience that had come to witness the event. He declared the tournament open amidst fanfare and excitement.

The final match was being played between SHUGUL SRINAGAR and DWCA BUDGAM teams where Budgam team won the toss and chose to Bat first and placed a total of 101 runs for 8 wickets, Shugul Srinagar successfully chased the score and won the match by 9 wickets.

 

Shugul Srinagar won the tournament and grabbed One Lakh prize money and DWCA Budam recieved 50,000 prize money. Kausar Meer of Budgam was declared Woman of the series.
