Srinagar, Mar 15: Jammu Kashmir Peoples Conference received a big jolt after one of its leaders Imran Raza Ansari tendered his resignation from the post of General Secretary.
Imran Raza Ansari in a tweet said, “as our party is growing and a lot of leaders have started joining the ‘caravan of change’, I have decided to resign from the post of General Secretary effective from today”.
Ansari- an influential Shia leader enjoys support of people in multiple constituencies particularly in those segments where Shias have dominated population.
“What Ansari did today is certainly going to affect Peoples Conference in future particularly after statehood is restored in Jammu and Kashmir,” said a political leader on condition of anonymity.
Ansaris in past elections have proved that they have support base in areas like Pattan,
Sonawari, Uri, Beerwah, Budgam, Chadoora, Batamaloo, Sonwar, Zadibal, Dargah, Tangmarg and Khansahib.
“Whatever, the decision of Imran Reza Ansari is going to affect Peoples Conference, there is no doubt about it,” the political leader said.
In April 2020, when Ansari decided to join Peoples Conference, Sajad Lone described him as a mass leader saying: “Molvi Imran sahib is a mass leader and will be a leading light in the caravan of change,” he added.
“I welcome @imranrezaansari into the @JKPC_ family. It is an emotional homecoming. Late Molvi Ifthikar sahib was one of the founding members’ if (of) PC along with my late father,” Lone had said.
If sources are to be believed, a new political party is in offing in Jammu and Kashmir which will be floated and joined by belligerent leaders from different political parties. (KNT)
