Incarceration of Mainstream Political Leaders of Kashmir Condemnable: Soz

Srinagar, Jan 16: Senior Congress leader Prof. Saifuddin Soz Saturday said that incarceration of mainstream political leaders of Kashmir is condemnable.

In a statement to KNT, Soz said that: “It has become a routine for the JKUT Administration to incarcerate mainstream leaders, off and on.”

In this connection, notice may be taken of senior PDP leader Naeem Akhtar who had been taken into custody months ago. Of late, Mr. Naeem Akhtar had been lodged in MLA’s Hostel, Srinagar.

“Now, when his health deteriorated, he was hospitalized for treatment. It is extremely deplorable that even when his health has deteriorated, he continues to be under detention! Knowledgeable sources have confirmed that after treatment in the hospital, he has again been kept under detention!.”

“This attitude of the UT Administration is extremely deplorable,” Soz said.

He said the people want to know the reason why it has become necessary for the UT Administration to keep Naeem Akhtar under detention even when he is not in good health.

“The people of Kashmir rightly condemn the detention of PDP leader Naeem Akhtar even when he is not well,” Soz said. (KNT)
