Is disbanding J&K cadre really development?

Article 370 will be back with a bang: Muzafar Shah

 

Srinagar, Jan 11: Awami National Conference senior vice president Muzafar ShahMonday hit government left, right and centre saying that Kashmir has become a laboratory where every Tom, Dick and Harry conduct experiments.

Referring to the LG administration, Shah said that it is talking about Rs 28,000 crore industrial package when there is no money for purchasing a single tractor to clear snow in Kashmir Valley.

“From past two years you have telling that machinery will be procured to clear snow. Those heavy machines will be suitable for far flung areas. At least use tractors for snow clearance. People are suffering, pregnant ladies are dying, and hospital roads are blocked. Is this development you are talking about,” Shah as per KNT said.

“Is disbanding J&K Cadre development? If you think it is development then disband Gujarat and Maharashtra Cadre,” he said adding that in the era of unemployment, the age bar for job aspirants in Jammu and Kashmir have been curtailed from 37 to 32 years.

He said when snow lashed Kashmir Valley, LG and Chief Secretary were in Jammu announcing Rs 28,000 industrial package. “We are not against this development. Industrialists are welcome but at least give us some respite, purchase snow clearance equipments,” he said.

Shah told reporters that Government of India is treating Kashmir as a ‘colony’. “Government of India has destroyed every institution in Jammu and Kashmir. It is my land, my water and still my area is reeling under darkness. Our 90% water share goes to Northern India where people get uninterrupted electric supply and here people are without electricity. We are jobless, waterless and without electricity. Our snowfilled roads are in shambles and they preach lessons of development. Now people of Jammu and Leh and Kargil have started understanding the importance of Article 370,” he said.

Shah said Article 370 and 35A will be back with a bang. “Special Status is important for every resident of Jammu and Kashmir, be it Kashmir, Dogra, Gujjar, Pahari, Sikh, Hindu or Muslim,” he said.

He urged government to return the bodies of those youth killed in Srinagar encounter. He said time has come that AFSPA be repealed in Jammu and Kashmir. “This Act is the source of fake encounters and violence,” Shah said. (KNT)
