“Like the waves make towards the pebbled shore, So do our minutes hasten to their end”
This couplet is from Sonnet 14 written by William Shakespeare. It was during the year 2003 when I read this beautiful poem for the first time. In this poem Shakespeare in a unique way describes the journey of time and the changes/ effects which are associated with the passage of time in every living beings life. He gives the example of sun, which rises in the east during mornings with a mood different from what it has during noon and during sunset in the evenings.

In the similar manner he has penned some couplets in this just fourteen lined poem, describing the changes which occur in every human beings life from time to time. During infancy and in childhood the innocent nature of human being has different aspirations, in his youthful days he is full of vigour, vitality and guts and in the old age he loses his strength, power and hope. In brief he shows how the passage of time and the indelible marks associated with time can’t be halted or reversed.

His /her aspirations, demands and needs abruptly see a change when he/she retires from his/ her services. It is both a challenge as well as a blessing. If you are wise enough and know the value of time, you can enjoy your post retirement days by engaging yourself in different activities which can further develop your personality. Last year I too got an opportunity to meet her with some issue. She without wasting a second directed her subordinate officials to mitigate my grievance at an earliest. Whenever officials of varied ranks used to visit her office, she apart from redressing the issues listened them patiently. Both in Academics and in administrative affairs, Naheed Neelofer proved herself an iron lady. After Mir Sonaullah, Naheed Neelofer’s tenure will always be remembered by the fellow officials for her best administrative skills. It is worth to label her tenure as CEO Ganderbal a golden tenure. For an efficient work culture in the department, officers like Naheed Neelofer need to be encouraged and promoted to yield the excellent results.
