The language spoken in Ladakh in two district Leh and Kargil and their tehsil dub division including Balti language spoken in Baltistan now under the occupation of Pakistan, languages spoken in the Ladakh region are Ladakhi purik, Shina, Dardi, also called Bok-skat. Shina in Drass valley of Kargil district and dardi or dok Skat is spoken in Da-ha-nu valley and in villages of Batalik and shina spoken in drassvalley of kargil belong dard group of language. Ladakhi spoken in leh district and Purik in Kargil district belong to the Sino-Tibetan sub group. In the villages of Turtuk of Leh and the village Bogdong of the Nubra, Balti is spoken. The Balti language also belong to the Sino-Tibetan sub group. The three villages of Chuchot in Leh valley are referred to as Balti-yul (village belonging to Balti peoples) But due close connection with the Ladakhi speaking people over the centuries the languages spoken today by this community is immensely influenced by the Ladakhi. A majority of the peoples of Leh district speaks the Ladakhi language it has six regional varieties. La-daksi-skat/is spoken in the central valley that in Leh valley of Leh district.
Stot-Skat/is spoken in the regions situated on the higher altitude of Chanmgthang. It has reffered to by various names stot-skat languages of upper or higher region of Ladakh Leh, Changthang languages of Chang-peoples living Chahngthang region. Sham-skat/is spoken in lower altitude area known as lower Ladakh sham-ma-pa the language of /sham-ma people of lower leh ladakhi. Ladakhi living in da/ha-nu and Garkon sub valley of lower Ladakh speak/Dardi or Dok skat. Nubra skat is spoken in the valley of Nubra of Leh district and is also called nub-re-skat languages of nub-ra. Zanskari-Skat/ is spoken in Zanskar is tehsil and sub division of Kargil district. Kargilie -Skat is spoken in the valley of Kargil Purgie. The Languages is referred to in Ladakhi as /lLa-daks-si –Skat (the language of Ladakh) and as la-daks-si-spera the language of language/L la-daks-si-spera/is used in contrast to/Choos-Skat/the language of religion)classical Tibetan is refer to as/Choos-Skat the written translated or original pertaining to relation or secular like medicine astrology etc.is written in classical Tibetan.
