Yogi Govt To Rename Agra’s Mughal Museum After Shivaji Maharaj

Agra: On Monday, the Uttar PradeshChief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced to rename the under- construction Mughal museum in Agra after Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
Yogi Adityanath, who has changed the names of several places in his 3 years of ruling, including Allahabad now Prayagraj. He tweeted that in Uttar Pradesh, there was no place for the symbols of “the mentality of slavery.”
The Chief Minister made it clear that his government “always nurtured the nationalist ideology and anything which smacks of a subservient mentality will be done away with”.
“How can our heroes be Mughals ? The very name of Shivaji will invoke a feeling of nationalism and self-esteem,” said while reviewing the developmental works in Agra division.
“ Agra’s under-construction museum will be known by the name of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. In your new Uttar Pradesh, there is no space for the symbols of “the mentality of slavery”.
Shivaji Maharaj is our hero. Jai Hind, Jai Bharat!” tweeted in Hindi.
This move assumed significance in view of the scuffle between the Shiv Sena and BJP in Maharashtra and efforts to link it with Maratha pride
The Chief Minister directed to complete the remaining work in the Agra Smart City Project and asserted that this project is among the priorities of his government and should be taken up with the same urgency.
Yogi also said he was happy over Agra getting second ranking at the national level and first among other Smart Cities in Uttar Pradesh in a recent ranking survey record.
He also asked to expedite the Airport and Metro projects of Agra and said that no project should suffer due to shortage of money and he would personally speak to the Centre if any requirement of money arises. He said that the AMRUT and JNNURM schemes should also be given impetus.
“Out of a total of 19 works under the Agra Smart City project, four have been completed while 15 are in progress. The time-line of every work is prepared and all these works will be completed by August 2021,” Adityanath said.
Meanwhile, they call for the defacement of the Taj and other Mughal-era monuments, speeches made from the Red Fort another legacy of the Mughals trigger nationalistic glee and a lot of chest-thumping. And there is also an element of hypocrisy to this ‘everything about Mughal is an odious’ argument of the bigots.
