Parth Samthaan and Hina Khan quitting Kasautii Zindagii Kay to pursue Bollywood dreams: Reasons why Ekta Kapoor’s reboot version failed to impress

01. Parth Samthaan and Hina Khan quitting Kasautii Zindagii Kay to pursue Bollywood dreams: Reasons why Ekta Kapoor’s reboot version failed to impress

Ekta Kapoor’s much-excited project Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2 is going off-air next month. The show launched with much fanfare by unveiling 25 feet statue of the lead pair Anurag and Prerna across 10 cities in India in early September 2018. In two years’ time, the show is all set to wrap-up. Lead actors quitting show to some getting replaced, weak plotline, low TRPs, here are a few reasons we feel the reboot failed to impress.

02. Parth Samthaan moving to Bollywood

While previously it was reported that Parth wants to quit the show, now BT has learnt that the actor has bagged a Bollywood film opposite Alia Bhatt. The movie, titled Gangubai Kathiawadi is a biographical crime film about a young girl, who is sold into prostitution by her boyfriend. Apparently, Parth is going to play Alia’s lover in the film and has a short but prominent role in the movie.

03. Hina Khan quitting the show

The first drop in audience’s interest came when Hina Khan quit the show. Hina, who had ruled the television with her act as Akshara in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, wowed all with her vamp act in Kasautii as Komolika. Her style and presence on-screen gave birth to a new term #KomoSwag. But unfortunately, as she left, TRPs dropped big time.

04. Actors getting replaced

First Hina got replaced, then Karan Singh Grover as Mr. Bajaj. Karan Singh Grover made a grand entry as Mr. Bajaj. Ekta also took the entire cast to Switzerland to introduce his character. Just when audience was getting used to the track, his character got bumped off and post his return after a few episodes, Karan Patel got introduced as the new Mr. Bajaj. News of Parth Samthaan and Erica Fernandes getting replaced were also doing the rounds. But now Ekta is pulling the plug on the show.

05. Weak plotline

The reboot version of Kasautii Zindagii Kay failed to engage aundience’s interest owing to the storyline. Too many characters, too many sub-plots like Mohini constantly nagging her daughter Nivedita to impress Mr. Bajaj and flaunting her so-called wealth, Komolika’s ‘Anurag sirf mera hai’ dialogue, the younger brigade post leap, the entire show is just going haywire. Mohini’s dialogues and antics are too cringy and also quite regressive in today’s time.

06. Aamna Shariff as Komolika

Somehow audiences have failed to connect with the new Komolika. Both Hina and Aamna portrayed a negative character on-screen for the first time. But unlike Hina’s aura, Aamna as Komolika couldn’t impress much. She has absolutely no love for Anurag but her character at times loses the plot as to why she constantly runs after him. And that’s been another let down.

07. No chemistry between all the lead characters

Erica Fernandes as Prerna, Parth Samthaan as Anurag, Karan Patel as Mr. Bajaj, none have chemistry with each other. Initially, Erica and Parth’s jodi were much-loved and fans would trend them as #AnuPre but off-late there’s a lack in it too.

08. Parth Samthaan’s Covid-19 scare

Parth had tested positive for Covid-19 and then took a break for personal reasons. His character was missing on-screen for quite sometime and somehow audience couldn’t see the lead character missing from the show. That made an impact on the audience losing interest.

09. Change in timings

It was earlier reported that show will get a new timing and the time slot will be taken over by Saath Nibhana Saathiya 2. According to the source the dipping TRPs, with the latest development of shifting the time slot to an early prime time was a great cause of concern for the makers.

10. Actors shooting separately

Resuming shoot post lockdown, the lead actors were shooting separately owing to health scare and this was the need of the hour. Shooting from home had it’s own challenges and restrictions and it just couldn’t create the comeback magic required on-screen.
