Police prevents PDP’s leaders meet at its headquarters

 

Police on Thursday stopped several leaders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) from leaving their residences to attend a party meeting which was scheduled at 11 am at the party headquarters in Srinagar.

According to a party leader, the district level leaders were also supposed to participate in the meet but all the top leaders were kept under house arrest.

Senior PDP leader Naeem Akhtar in a tweet said, “Despite being free on paper and in govt submissions in HC and SC, PDP Leadership continues to be under illegal detention, without any official orders. Video from today – I wasn’t allowed to attend the PDP meeting nor were any of my colleagues.”

The leaders who were prevented from leaving their houses included GNL Hanjura, Abdul Rehman Veeri, Naeem Akhtar, Sartaj, Khurshid Alam, Aijaz Mir, Waheed Rehman Para, and Mohd Yousuf Bhat.

PDP spokesperson, Suhail Bukhari, Fayaz Mir, Mushtaq Shah, Sakeena Baig and only some office bearers were allowed to enter the headquarters following which the meet was cancelled as most of the leaders were not allowed to gather.

The meeting was called to discuss the prevailing political situation and general party affairs.
