‌It is a great proverb that “a sound mind, lies in a sound body” and a physical exercise plays an enormous mantle in the construction of an individuals angelic persona.people may have Physical exercises through diverse fashions like Gym, running, Cricket, football etc and for the most part, sports embrace Its gigantic hunk.The National Sports Day in the largest democracy india is celebrated on 29th day of August every year.This day is celebrated to honor the legendary hockey player, Major Dhyan Chand Singh. 29th August happens to be the birth anniversary of Dhyan Chand,who is regarded as nation’s greatest hockey player of all time. Popularly known as “The Wizard” for his magical touch, superb control, creativity and extraordinary goal-scoring feats, Chand was instrumental in taking Indian hockey to greater heights under his extraordinary leadership & won gold medals in Olympics for india in the years 1928,1932 and 1936. It is a special occasion to make the nation more educated towards the importance of being fit and healthy, besides to commemorate the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand. The National Sports Day is celebrated across the country. As a nation, India has taken leaps and bounds to excel in the field of sports. It isn’t just cricket anymore that defines the country. Neither it is the past glory of hockey. Sports have become an integral part of the country and athletes from various fields and segments have taken the scene to another level. To celebrate National sports day is to make awareness that the need of the hour for youngsters in this nation is to stay fit and healthy. Besides this, the importance of sports and daily activities in every individual’s life is also a vital aspect.The Union territory of Jammu & Kashmir which is known for stone pelting, terrorism, etc. has given birth to many athletes who has glorified the name of valley with shining colours among the stars by their talent and had put a positive dominance over the youth of the valley. Parviez rasool, who is the first international cricketer from kashmir has become an Iconic face for majority of the kashmiri youth. The youth is now mostly indulged in sports activities to make their carrier and from last many years, many people from valley are making their part in IPL like Rasik salam, Abdul samad and Manzoor pandav. Not only in cricket but, also in other sports like Akber khan in cycling, Tajamul Islam in martial Arts, Amir Aziz, iqra rasool, Meharjudeen wadoo, chain sing , palak kour etc.The government in the jammu & Kashmir should take positive steps for uplifting the sports activities in the valley to help out youth from dog’s house and to make ways for their better future.There is a vast contribution of Indian Army who through various programmes are inculcating best from the kashmiri youth and supporting them both morally as well as Financially to give a shape to their talent. to be candid, poignant to say as of my knowledge is concerned,if the youth has choosen sports and books instead of stones and Arms, it is only due the hard efforts of Indian Army Jawans. On this day, the President of India honours eminent sports personalities with major awards including Khel Ratna, Arjuna Awards, Dronacharya Awards and Dhyan Chand Award. This is an eventful day for the rising athletes to set the standards and go for these prestigious awards.Kuldeep Handoo, J&K police inspector and a wushu player from kashmir nominated for Dronacharya award this year by the president of India. The Indian government over the years has launched many schemes related to sports on this day including the Khelo India scheme in 2018 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The PM has launched a nation-wide Fit India Movement on National Sports Day . Meanwhile, Minister of State , Youth Affairs and Sports Kiren Rijiju has said the government is receiving tremendous support for the initiative and state governments as well as corporates are doing everything possible to make it a grand success.The government has also formed 28-member committee under Rijiju, which includes government representatives from sports, secondary education, Ayush, youth affairs, members of Indian Olympic Association (IOA), national sports bodies, private bodies and fitness promoters like actors Shilpa Shetty and Milind Soman. National sports day is not just about spreading awareness on the importance of sports. The day also highlights the achievements and contributions of Chand to India’s rich sports history and culture. the government also need to always support these athletes and take the game forward. One should get every bit of recognition and praise for their efforts.We also need to credit the government for taking all necessary steps to promote sports and fitness. Remember, a fit India is a happy India.
