Kulgam: A group of Panchs and Sarpanchs Tuesday appealed police and civil administration to initiate action against what they called a ‘WhatsApp’ admin who according to them is interfering in Block works in Devsar Kulgam here in South Kashmir.
These Panchs arrived here in Press Enclave Srinagar and said that a man who is seen carrying logos of multiple media outlets and runs a WhatsApp Group is harassing them and is demanding money. “It is simply black mailing,” they said.
Spokesperson District Panchayat Coordination Committee Block Devsar, Reyaz Ahmed Bhat told news agency KNT that a couple of days ago, this man barged into the house of a woman who is Block Development Chairperson Baihama village and accused her of spending government money (Rs 15,000) on the construction of bathroom. The woman almost fainted as she was shocked to see a stranger inside the house,” he said a complaint at police station Qazigund has been lodged in this regard but no action against this so called ‘Journalist’ has been taken so for.
He said various works under MGNREGA are being under taken in Devsar Block. “This man thinks everyone is corrupt, so he demands money from Block representatives and when one refuses to oblige, he threatens him. We appeal police and civil administration particularly Anti Corruption Bureau to probe into the works that are being done under different government schemes so that truth will come out and this man won’t be able to malign their image.
President, District Panchayat Coordination Committee Block Devsar Irhad Ahmed sought intervention of District Development Commissioner Kulgam and appealed SSP Kulgam to take cognizance of the complaint filed by them at police station Qazigund. (KNT)
