Co-accused to be arrested soon: Police

Ganderbal, July 23: Ganderbal Police on Thursday claimed to have cracked a murder case and arrested the accused who was allegedly involved in the killing of his wife.
However, police said that the co-accused, brother of the arrested person will also be arrested soon.
Pertinently, the body of his wife identified as Rubeena Jan (30), wife of Abdul Majeed Khan of Alhal Kangan was found in Nallah Sindh on July 14.
Police told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that soon after her body was found, a case was registered in this regard while investigation was started.
During investigation, officials said that they found the woman was killed by her husband.
SDPO Kangan, Sheikh Tahir said that during investigation, her husband confessed that the couple had a fight over the extra marital affairs after which he planned to kill her.
Majeed along with his brother killed her and later threw her body in Nallah Sindh on July 11, which was found after three days, he said, adding that her husband is under police custody while his brother will be arrested soon.
In a tweet, senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ganderbal, Khalil Poswal complemented Kangan police for cracking the murder case.
“At Police Station Kangan a drowning case of a lady namely Smt Rubeena W/o Abdul Majid Khan has been worked as murder to have committed by her husband, well done team Kangan @SDPO Kangan and @SHO Kangan,” SSP Ganderbal tweeted.
Meanwhile, police in a statement issued to KNO that a 28-year-old lady namely Rubeena, wife of Abdul Majeed Khan of Gounci Mohalla Kangan who had gone missing on 09-07-2020 and her dead body was recovered by Police on 14-07-2020 from Nalla Sindh and a proceedings under section 174 CRPC was initiated.
“Enquiry into the matter indicated it more as a case of murder than simple drowning and case under section 302 IPC was registered in Police Station Kangan,” statement reads, adding that a team headed by SDPO Kangan Sheikh Tahir Amin and SHO Kangan Aftab Ahmed Lone was constituted by SSP Ganderbal Khalil Ahmed Poswal.
“Acting swiftly, the team arrested the accused namely Abdul Majeed Khan who confessed that he was suspecting infidelity from his wife of having multiple love affairs and she wanted to go back to his maternal home in West Bengal.
This led to a heated argument between the couple and he strangled her to death,” It further adds.
“Kept her dead body in his shop for 5 days and later with the assistance of his brother Nissar Ahmad Khan threw the body into the Nallah Sindh from Akhal Bridge. On his confession, an instance rope used for strangulation, clothes of the victim, blood stained cardboard and hair recovered with the assistance from the FSL unit. Investigation into the matter is going on,” the statement added—(KNO)
