Youth Drowns in Water Reservoir in Tral

Srinagar: A 20-year-old youth drowned in a water reservoir at Shaldraman area of Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Tuesday evening.
Reports reaching GNS said that the youth, part of a group, had taken to the reservoir for bathe when the mishap occurred.
Soon after, teams of SDRF and police joined by locals launched a rescue operation to trace out the youth.
A police official identifying the drowned youth as Imtiyaz Ahmad, a resident of Tral Payeen a police official said that efforts by are on to trace the youth. “However no success has been made in this regard so far”, the official said.
Hinting that the youth may have died in the mishap, the official said that “It may take us some time to retrieve the body given the depth of the water reservoir.” (GNS)
