As the authorities in several districts of Kashmir has re-imposed the lockdown in most of the districts of the Valley in order to contain the spread of COVID-19, a deadly virus which spreads from one person to another but unfortunately the people are still roaming freely without following the SOP’s, health advisories and guidelines issued by the competent authorities, thus posing a serious threat to not only their lives but their families too. The lockdown has been re-imposed following the spike in the COVID-19 cases in Srinagar and other districts of the Valley. The people must understand the magnitude of the virus and should adhere to the health advisories here in order to contribute at an individual level in safeguarding the lives of others. Frequent appeals made by the J&K UT administration, health experts, and various media outlets to the people, requesting them to follow the health advisories including the use of face masks, maintaining social distancing, usage of hand sanitizers, and other things. But, the unfortunate part is that people still don’t pay heed to the repeated calls of the administration so that they will follow the health guidelines in latter and spirit. The fact needs to be understood that at the present moment there is no vaccine available for this deadly virusand the only way to prevent its spread is to follow the health guidelines in an efficient and regular manner. Therefore, after re-imposing lockdown, the administration should come up with stringent laws to ensure that people will follow the health guidelines seriously. Besides imposing hefty fine from the violators, people who don’t pay heed to the guidelines should also be taken to the task so that things can change at the grassroots level.
