Kupwara, Jul 9 : At least three residential houses were gutted in a major blaze that erupted on Thursday evening in Kakarpati area of Lolab in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

Reports reaching GNS said that at least three residential houses were caught in a major inferno this evening in Kakarpati area of Lolab, razing them to ashes.

Witnesses said that the fire started from house of one Bashir Ahmad Khan and soon after spread to other nearby residential houses.

They attributed the cause of fire to gas leakage.

The intensity of flames grew due to bursting of gas cylinders in the nearby houses, they said.

Meanwhile, fire service department personnel joined by police and locals after hectic efforts brought the flames under control.

However, no loss of life or injury was reported in the mishap, reports said.(GNS)
