Bandipora: A massive day long cleanliness drive cum Environment Awareness Programme was conducted by Jammu & Kashmir Students Welfare Mission and Bandipora Eco-Watch last week in Bandipora of Northern Kashmir’s Bandipora district.

Jammu and Kashmir students welfare Mission with regard in maintaining to cleanness in their surroundings, a massive cleanness-cum-awareness rally was conducted in collaboration with District Panchayat Officer, Bandipora, Elixir Garden School Aloosa and Alim Adab Aab Foundation Bandipora at Ashtangoo village of District Bandipora.

A good number of participants participated in the drive who collected the solid waste ,polythene bags, plastics, junk food wrappers etc and proper disposal of the said waste was ensured with support from District Panchayat Officer Bandipora. Senior citizens of the village and other adjacent areas also participated in the said drive and appreciated the initiative taken by these organisations jointly. They showed their Gratitude for  such programmes to continue in future  to get divested from  these pernicious plastic cum polythene menace.

During awareness session, importance of ODF Sustainability, single use of plastics, anti- polythene  drives, Scientific Solid Waste Management etc were highlighted by the programme organisers.

To gear up the spirit of environment enthusiasm and to safeguard environment, J&K Students Welfare Mission in collaboration with Wildlife Conservation Fund are running Go Green Bandipora, Wullar Lake Conservation Project and Baba Shukur din RA Eco Restoration Project besides other plantation drives in District Bandipora to address the green need of the environment.

Prior is the fact that to safeguard environment is utter need now, as seeing what’s marginalizing nature and how the changes influence our relation with nature and natural resources , the alteration in nature has already worsened the global environment and brought ample disasters, as the things now  aren’t latent, we can lucidly perceive what’s happening and how the nature is behaving somewhat taking revenge for what we did with it.

We must realise as soon as possible and act smartly to keep it from worsening further , this has brought a optimistic opine as everyone feels someone is taking steps to preserve nature, the need is much to educate masses as it was then .

The campaign has set as its broader goals creation of awareness about good practices like keeping clean sanitation facilities at home and public places, sorting home-generated waste and processing bio-degradable material at source and keeping educational institutions, hospitals, offices and wedding halls free from plastic.
