Srinagar, July 4: To make beekeeping productive, profitable and capable of generating sustained employment opportunities in J&K, KVIB will set up a Common Facilitation Center (CFC) in Nadihal area of Bandipora.

Vice Chairperson KVIB Dr Hina Bhat has said this is a step towards the goal of the Government to increase the quality production of honey in J&K.

“KVIB is setting up honey clusters in J&K under which a cluster of 100 to 500 beneficiaries is set up with a common facility Centre (CFC) to provide support for skill development, technical know-how, quality control, and certification and processing of by-products besides marketing,” she said.

During her visit to CFC centre which is being setup under SFURTI Scheme at a cost of Rs 2.50 crore, she interacted with officials of KVIB and beekeepers of Bandipora.

She informed them about the vitality of the project for the beekeepers and provides a perfect atmosphere and platform to them to market their products besides employment generation.

Highlighting that Nadihal is famous for Sulahoney – known for its taste and purity, Dr Bhat said that with the commissioning of the center, KVIB will help the beekeepers to market their product internationally.

“after the white revolution and green revolution, we all should join hands to bring sweet revolution initiative launched by Prime Minister in the country,” she said.

Later she also visited the Khadi cluster and interacted with the weavers including the National awardee oldest weaver and sought their suggestions for making the KVIB schemes more artisan oriented.
