Police recovers kidnapped girl; accused arrested

 

Srinagar, June 23: Police claimed to have recovered kidnapped girl, accused arrested in North Kashmir’s Sopore on Tuesday.

In a statement to GNS, Police said that in Sopore it recovered a kidnapped girl and arrested the person involved in the crime.

On 20th of June 2020, Police Station Sopore received a complaint from a person resident of Arampora Sopore regarding missing of his daughter.

The statement further stated that after receiving the complaint, Sopore Police started search to trace the missing girl. During search, officers were able to recover the kidnapped girl from the possession of one person identified as Ajaz Ah Ganai son of Mushtaq Ah Ganai resident of Warpora Sopore. Officers also learnt that the said missing girl was kidnapped by Ajaz Ahmad Ganai. The accused person has been arrested and shifted to Police Station Sopore where he remains in custody.

Accordingly, a case FIR No. 155/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Sopore and investigation in the matter has been initiated.

After fulfilling all medico-legal formalities, the girl was handed over to her legal heirs. Investigation into the matter is in progress.

Swift action by police against anti-social elements has been appreciated by the locals. Community members are requested to cooperate with police in curbing social crimes in their neighbourhood. They can share information pertaining to social crimes with police. We reassure the community members that our efforts in curbing social crimes shall continue, added the statement.(GNS)
