Budgam, June 20: A day-old baby boy was found abandoned in an orchard in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district. Police have registered a case against unknown persons for abandoning the infant.
Local sources told news agency KNT that some locals found a new born baby in the apple orchards of village Bonen of Chadora town.
“The baby was wrapped in a cloth. We took him to village and handed him over to Sarpanch of the village, namely Nazir Ahmad,” said locals.
Police have booked a case against unknown persons and set investigation into motion.
“We are checking with hospitals about deliveries and intelligence is being gathered from local sources about pregnant women who could possibly be the mother. We will soon arrest the accused,” said a police official.
Locals suspect that the infant, who was abandoned on the same day he was born, could have been from an illicit relationship. (KNT)
