Shopian Encounter: 3 Encounters in 4 days, 14 militants killed so far in Shopian

Srinagar: Five militants were killed in a fierce gunfight with government forces in SugooHendhama, area of Shopian districton Wednesday,
During the joint patrolling, the Central Reserve Police Force, Rashtriya Rifles and the Special Operations Group came under fire, the police said.
The joint operation was launched at 01:45 am of June 10, based on J&K Police intelligence Cordon was laid and contact was established at 05:30 am in the morning.
According to army spokesperson Col Rajesh Kalia, operation SuguHandamah (Shopian), a joint operation was launched on Wednesday at 0145h based on JK Police intelligence. Cordon was laid and contact was established at 0530h in which security forces eliminated five terrorists.
It’s pertinent to mention that total of fourteen militants have been killed in Shopian district since 07th of June including two commanders. This is third encounter in Shopian district this week, whereas in the last two encounters ensued in the same district on Sunday and Monday, 9 militants were killed in those two encounters.
“It’s a big success for the security forces as the killing of these militants will bring peace in South Kashmir, arms and ammunition were also recovered from the gunfight site,” said AtulGoyal, DIG South Kashmir on Monday while addressing the media. (Kashmir Glacier)
