Srinagar airport waiting for Centre’s nod to resume commercial flight operations India

Srinagar: The authorities of Srinagar International Airport are waiting for a clearance from government to start commercial flight operations.
In view of COVID-19, all the preparations have been put in place to ensure, passengers and staff don’t get infected. The airport was thrown open to flights that are landing with stranded students, passengers and essential items.
Director Srinagar Airport, Santosh Dhoke told Times Now, “We are a call away to resume commercial flights. All the precautions have been taken for coronavirus. We are sure passengers will have a smooth experience at the airport.”
Passengers who will be travelling to different parts for the country from Srinagar will go through sanitisation along with their luggage at the drop gate. They will be attended by doctors for screening and people with no symptoms will be allowed to enter.

Verification of documents will be done by Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel, who have recently taken over the security of the airport.
Dhoke said, “We have made contact less cabins of transparent acrylic sheets for staff members. These cabins are equipped with cameras through which documents will be seen by the security personnel. On any confusion, they will be dealt accordingly.”

The authorities had challenging times in installing automatic sanitisers. The requisite places that will be touched by hands while entering the premises will get automatically sanitised.
In continuation of the preventive measures, special stripes have been procured for social distancing marks, official said.
The passengers will have to get e-passes for their boarding and don’t have to wait in queue.
