Srinagar: In the times of lockdown when Internet is ruling the meetings, advisories and online education, children in Kashmir are studying A for Apple, B for Buffering, C for Couldn’t connect and D for Downloading again
It is a continuous chain of the domination of situations over rights ending with Z for “Zero success”. Covid, a pandemic is threat to whole world! Where Spain has started working with precautions, online classes have started in India, the crown of India, Kashmir is devoid of the well speed internet. Internet here is working for WhatsApp Messenger and Facebook posts.
When it comes to work, the awareness Podcasts and advices are limited for minutes so they may get uploaded. These days a new drama of online zoom classes have started. How will 2G justify the hardwork of teachers working on other side?
The service has been blocked since August last year when the government of India abrogated Article 370.
With the article it is nth time the future of Kashmir is abrogated. Education is one of the main aspects of one’s life which is directly dependent upon the internet connection, global village well said.
Kashmir is very less the part of this village where only the lads of high society are enjoying internet these days. With the availability of Jio fibres and BSNL broadbands there are faces enjoying education and entertainment both but on the very same point middle class families are seeing their children destroyed.
There can be no streaming without high speed internet and if by a good luck it is, it is for the time of blinking. In my online classes going on wherein every teacher is equally working hard to make us understand, but excuse me! If teaching is this then what is chatting? The recharge quota of almost every person these days is 1.5 GB per day out of which not even 500 MB is fully used, how far is this the justice with our recharge plans?
It’s been almost a year now since August, all the laptops and personal computers along with their antivirus softwares have shut their eyes. They require food as we all do. They require an update which only a broadband holder will afford! Maximum laptops run a program hours later and that’s when the time runs out.
When it comes to high speed internet Kashmiris are everytime mocked by extending the ban on 2G.
I ask what is the reason behind this? The fear of spreading rumours? Or the fear of reality coming out! Let’s think in a silence, rumours are still alive but justice is dead. 2G is alive but internet is dead. Formality is alive but for God’s sake, education is dead.
A friend studying outside, told me “We are studying online, safe in our hostels. There’s no loss actually”. And then there comes the Education in Kashmir! Students can’t load the websites, videos buffer for hours and I personally can’t download a pdf sent by the teacher. I dream of becoming the proud girl of Kashmir but I end up throwing the phone on wall, frustrated of speed.
I ask, Do we belong to Kashmir even? Do we enjoy the citizen rights of a state? Oh Union Territory! The Education has totally lost it’s way. To the authorities, for God’s sake open your eyes! To Kashmiris, don’t let your knowledge vanish. Talk to your elders and learn from them. Let not evil doers win.
Till the proper internet will be restored learn everything you’ve missed aside. Rest we talk of a well speed internet, let those who did this think again. We’re citizens and our rights demand 4G…
