‘The Supreme Court’s reconsideration appeal has brought high hopes among the people of Valley’

Srinagar, Jan 10: On Friday the Supreme Court asked the JK Government to reassess the decisions on internet clampdown in Valley, which crosses over 155 days post August 05, 2019.

The Supreme Court’s decision brought cheers among the young lot of Jammu—Kashmir who have been desperately waiting for the restoration of the internet services in Kashmir.

The students who are preparing for their national and international tests has expressed gratitude to the Supreme court’s decision over the prolonged internet clampdown in Valley which has forced them to leave their homes in order to prepare well for their upcoming exams.

The announcement made by highest authority of India brought a sigh of relief among the people of Kashmir who are disconnected from the rest of the world from the last 160 days.

The Traders fraternity associated with the JK Tourism has called the move a much needed measure to avoid further losses to the beleaguered economy of Kashmir.

On the eve of New Year, the Lt. Governor ordered the restoration of Short Messaging Service and broadband services for about eighty Government run hospitals of Valley which brought some relief to the people of Kashmir.

Right after the restoration of SMS and partial broadband services the demand for the restoration of internet gained momentum in Kashmir.

On Friday, the Supreme Court observed that access to internet services is a fundamental right and people of Kashmir should get back that right at earliest. The SC asked the Jammu and Kashmir administration to review within a week all orders imposing curbs in the Union Territory and said that internet access is a fundamental right under Article 19 of the constitution.
