72 Security Force Personnel Killed till June 18 in Kashmir- Highest in 15 years

Srinagar: Seventy-two Government Force personnel have been killed since January 01 in the Kashmir valley till June 18 which is the highest in the past 15 years as per official stats.
The Killings of Government Force personnel have picked up after Modi rose to power in 2014, Since the last week 10 Government Force personnel have been killed, starting with a “Fidayeen” or suicide attack in South Kashmir’s Anantnag town in which 6 personnel were killed.
On Monday, two army personnel were killed in an IED blast in Pulwama district, Earlier an army major was killed in a gunfight with militants in Achabal in Anantnag district, one more trooper was killed during an encounter with Militant early morning on Tuesday in Anantnag District.
South Asia Terrorism Portal reported that these deaths take the total number of casualties for armed forces in the Kashmir region up to 72 from January 01 in 2019.
That is the highest number of causalities faced by Forces in the first six months of a year since 2005, when 105 personnel were killed during the same period. (thekashmiriyat.co.uk)
