GANDERBAL06 April 2019, : The Chinar Cricket Premier League 2019.conducted at Govt College of Physical Education, Gadura Ganderbal concluded today with the final match followed by the prize distribution ceremony.
The six day long cricketing extravaganza played on a knockout format witnessed the participation of 10 teams from all over Kashmir.
In a thrilling final match, Baramulla Tigers fielded by 19 Infantry Division defeated Budgam XI fielded by Victor Force, winning the match and the tournament in great style.
Brigadier Syed Ali Usman, Commander 3 Sector Rashtriya Rifles was the Chief Guest for the occasion.
Officers of civil administration and the education fraternity of the district were also present on this occasion.
The Chief Guest, in his address to the teams, congratulated the young players for exhibiting their skills as well as great sportsmanship.
He appreciated the efforts of the organizers, 5 Rashtriya Rifles Battalion (JAT) for successfully conducting the event and was pleased to see the large numbers of enthusiastic audience that had come to see the final match.
Prizes for best bowler, best batsman, Man of the match and man of the series were presented to the players for exhibiting individual brilliance.
The winners and runners up were presented with a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh and Rs 50,000 respectively, in addition to individual medals.
The tournament was another testimony of Indian Army’s commitment to provide the youth of Kashmir a platform to showcase their talent and channelize their youthful exuberance in a positive manner on the sports field.
The players as well as the entire Awaam expressed its gratitude to the Army for providing this golden opportunity and also requested for more such tournaments to be organized in the future.
