Baramulla, 28 February: Additional Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Mohammad Ahsan Mir today convened a meeting here at Dak bungalow to chalk out the strategies for the proper implementation of Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-dhan (PM-SYM) scheme in the district.
Meeting was attended by ADC Sopore Ashiq Hussain Lilly,ACR Mohammad Rafiq Lone, SDM Gulmarg,Accounts Officer Showket Ali Khan,Chief Agriculture Officer,Assisstant Labour Commissioner,ARTO and various other concerned officers from different departments.
It is worthwhile to mention that the scheme was announced in the interim union budget 2019-20 which aims at ensuring old age protection for unorganized workers. The unorganised workers whose monthly income is Rs. 15,000 per month or less and are in the age group of 18-40 years are eligible to avail benefits under which minimum assured pension of Rs 3000 per month shall be given to the beneficiary. The beneficiary should not be covered under the New Pension Scheme, NPS, Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) scheme or Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO).
On the ocassion, a thorough discussion with regard to the proper implementation of the scheme was held wherein the ADC directed the concerned officers to register all the unorganised workers from their respective domains. He stressed upon them to execute the process as soon as possible so that social and economic security is provided to them. It was informed that about 15000 workers in different categories are to be registered upto 3 march 2019.
